How do i keep my rabbit happy?

ok so due to my rabbit,silver, being crespecular, its really hard for me to keep him happy because hes awake when i sleep and vice versa. just now i let him out for about 54 mins because ive been out all day. i even got him to sort've flop (he rarely flops). and on top of that it was on my carpet (he usually flops in his cage). he was really happy and cooperative but im really tired and had to put him back in his cage because i CANNOT for a fact trust him outside of his cage. just like a baby, hell do something wrong,look at me all innocent and do it again. and i cant even count how many wires he messed up. so basically, i dont have a backyard or anything and he cant be trusted outside of his cage. but he was so happy and good today. i gave him treats but im positive he was sad when i put him back in...any advice relevant to the question would help. thanks...
