Why is the "You must believe or go to Hell" thing so absolute in people's mind?

Simple, fear is a great motivator and controler of people... Used by many leaders - Hitler, Mao, SDtalin and look atthe west - always on high alert by the Government so they can do what they will for national security reasons... Fear - greatest invention since time began!
