Why does god hate gay people?

i read in the quran and also in the bible that god hates gay people. the sin they commit is 'abomination'-what does that mean exactly? im so confused because i dont want to go to hell. how can i make sure i wont go to hell please help im teriified every night i go to bed wondering why god hates me. i have known i was gay since about 10, but was scared to act on my feelings because i dont want to go to hell.
